Bittern image Highly Commended at EAF Exhibition 2016

Richard Nicoll's image of two male Hen Harrier's interacting over Verral's Fen (part of the National Trust's Wicken Fen reserve) has been selected as the winning print in the Plants & Animals section of Cambridge Camera Club's Annual Exhibition. An image of a Bittern landing in the reed bed was High Commended and images of a Ruff and Four-spotted Chaser were Commended.

Richard Nicoll wins Gold Medal at 103rd Southampton International

Richard Nicoll's image of a Bittern landing in the reed bed at the National Trust's Wicken Fen reserve has been awarded the FIAP Gold Medal for Best Wildlife at the 103rd Southampton International Exhibition 2016. In addition a picture of a Hen Harrier (also taken at Wicken Fen) was awarded an SCC Medal.

Richard Nicoll's image of a Bittern landing in the reed bed at the National Trust's Wicken Fen reserve has been selected for a PAGB Ribbon at the St. Ives Interprint 2016. Only 6 images out of 240 were given awards.

University of Cambridge Licenses Cuckoo image

The University of Cambridge has licensed an image of a Reed Warbler feeding a Cuckoo chick as a beam of sunlight catches its gape turning the Reed Warbler's head orange. The image is being used to publicise a Darwin lecture by Prof. Nick Davies titled "The reed warbler and the cuckoo: an escalating game of trickery and defence"

Little Egret gains Honorable Mention at Bristol Salon 2016

Richard Nicoll's image of a Little Egret landing in the rain has been given an Honorable Mention and the Bristol International Salon 2016. The image was taken at the National Trust's Wicken Fen reserve.

The Dutch magazine "Groei & Bloei" has licensed an image of a Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) eating Elder Berries (Sambucus nigra) for publication in the February 2016 edition.

Richard Nicoll's image of a Hen Harrier at the National Trust's Wicken Fen Reserve has been awarded a Royal Photographic Society Gold Medal at the 41st Smethwick International. In addition an image of a Bittern also at Wicken Fen won an RPS Ribbon.

Cuckoo image accepted for Edinburgh International

Richard Nicoll's image of a Cuckoo flying with a caterpillar has been accepted into the prestigious Edinburgh International Exhibition which will be held during the Edinburgh International Festival in August.

Richard Nicoll's image of a Cuckoo flying amongst the reeds at Wicken Fen has been published alongside an article reviewing Nick Davis's book "Cuckoo Cheating by Nature". Martin Walters gives the book high praise and also says "It [the book] also contains some stunning photographs by award-winning photographer Richard Nicoll".

Exhibition and Talk at Wicken Fen 2nd - 4th May 2015

As part of the weekend of events to celebrate the launch of the book "Cuckoo. Cheating by Nature" by Prof. Nick Davies FRS, Richard Nicoll is holding an exhibition featuring images from the book along with other award winning images taken at Wicken Fen.

Richard is also giving a talk at Wicken Fen on Sunday the 3rd of May 2015 at 10am called "I never see anything at Wicken Fen..." on photographing the Fen's elusive wildlife.
