The FIAP (International Federation of Photographic Art) has chosen Richard Nicoll's image of a Kestrel trying to snatch a rodent from a Short-eared Owl for its Nature Challenge exhibition to be held by the Photographic Society of Singapore. For more information see below:

A series of FIAP Collections

PSS is proud to present a series of exciting collections specially imported from the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) which will be exhibited at its Loke Wan Tho Gallery, Selegie Arts Centre, 30 Selegie Road from October to December 2013. David Tay, Board Member of FIAP and PSS will be launching the exhibitions on 25 October 2013 at 7.30 pm.

There will be 3 exhibitions highlighting different categories in this series:
1) “Birds in Nature”: 25 Oct – 11 Nov 13
2) “Animals in Nature”: 13 – 30 Nov 13
3) “Landscapes and Nature”: 3 – 21 Dec 13

Each exhibition will showcase 36 examples from the work of world renowned photographers each of whom has achieved recognition from FIAP for the excellence of their photography.

Visitors to the Exhibitions will experience the timeless beauty of birds and animals captured in exquisite moments in their natural habitat, as well as the challenges and wonders of the world and natural phenomena captured in a series of breath-taking landscape images.

Come and see Richard Nicoll's awarding winning entries along with many other photographers work at the CCC Annual Exhibition which is being held in the Guildhall, Cambridge between the 28th October to 2nd November 2013 Monday 1:00pm to 5:00pm Tuesday to Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm. Richard will be attending the exhibition on Thursday the 31st of October in the afternoon.

Richard Nicoll has launched a Calendar for 2014 featuring some of his award winning photographs including some that have won Gold Medals both Nationally and Internationally.

Richard Nicoll has for the second year running been awarded the overall winner in the "Plants & Animals" print section of Cambridge Camera Clubs Annual Print Competition which is held in conjunction with the CCC Annual Exhibition. His winning entry features a Cuckoo flying amongst the reeds at Wicken Fen.



In addition Richard's prints and projected images won a further 11 awards all in the nature section.

The exhibition is being held in the Guildhall, Cambridge between the 28th October to 2nd November 2013 Monday 1:00pm to 5:00pm Tuesday to Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Richard Nicoll's images of a Reed Warbler feeding its chicks and of a Kingfisher perched in the rain have been voted as the best two images at the Ely Photographic Club Annual Exhibition. Coverage in the Ely Weekly News.

Richard Nicoll's image of a adult Reed Warbler feeding its brood of 4 chicks has won a Gold Medal at the Beyond Group National Exhibition 2013.

An image of a Hobby about to catch a Mayfly in mid-air

and a Black-headed Gull also about to catch a Mayfly in mid-air were both Highly Commended.

Richard Nicoll's images of a Marsh Harrier with prey and a Kingfisher have been published in the summer edition of the "News from the Fen" magazine.

The British Trust for Ornithology have licensed the Gold medal winning image of a Hobby just before it catches a Mayfly in its talons for their soon to be published Bird Atlas. The atlas documents the distribution and breeding of bird species throughout the UK and Ireland.

Richard Nicoll has had his print of a Hobby about to catch a Mayfly in mid-air accepted for the annual PAGB Inter-federation Print Exhibition. This exhibition chooses the best images from all the UK regional federations.

Richard Nicoll has gained the award of Artist from the FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE L'ART PHOTOGRAPHIQUE (The International Federation of Photographic Art).

This distinction is given to those who have reached a certain level of success in international photographic exhibitions. Richard gained 125 acceptances winning 17 awards, including 8 medals 2 of which were Gold.

Richard Nicoll has been awarded the British Photographic Exhibitions 2 Crown award after having 50 acceptances in Nature sections of British national photography exhibitions. Richard gained 16 awards including 6 medals one of which was PAGB Gold over the 50 acceptances.

Richard Nicoll has won the following awards this year:

• Ely Standard Cup for the highest total score in the Club's Open Colour Print competitions
  
• Bedford House Cup for the highest total score in the Club's Open DPI competitions
  
• Jeff Gardner Cup for the person with the highest overall points total
  
• Ken Hitch Trophy for the overall winner of the themed print competition
  
• Print of the Year for the print voted by the members as the best print entered in the Clubs print competitions
  

Richard Nicoll's image of an Avocet landing with the sunlight showing through its feathers has been chosen as the best projected digital image in the "Plants and Animals" section of the Cambridge Camera Club annual members PDI competition.

Richard Nicoll's image of a Kingfisher in the Rain has been Highly Commended at the East Anglia Federation Annual Exhibition 2013. The exhibition Runs from the 4th to the 17th of May 2013 at The Gibberd Gallery, Civic Centre/Town Hall, Harlow.

Richard Nicoll's image of a Black-headed Gull about to snatch a Mayfly in mid air has been awarded a PSA Honourable Mention at the Bavarian International Circuit 2013.

Richard Nicoll's image of a hare running in the snow has been commended at the Royal Photographic Society's Nature Group Annual Exhibition 2013.

Richard Nicoll's images of a Brown Hare running in the snow with all four paws off the ground has been awarded a PSA Gold Medal - Best of Show, a PSA Ribbon and two Judge's Awards at the Great British Small Print Circuit 2013 which comprises 4 individual international exhibitions.



An image of a Hobby about to catch a Mayfly in mid-air was also awarded a PSA Gold Medal - Best of Show along with a PSA Ribbon.



Another image of a Black-headed Gull about to snatch a Mayfly out of the air was also awarded an Honourable Mention.

Richard Nicoll's images of a Kestrel mobbing a Short-eared Owl and a Marsh Harrier with nesting material have both been awarded Southampton Camera Club certificates at the SCC 100th International Exhibition 2013.

Richard Nicoll's image of a Brown Hare sitting with frost on its whiskers has been awarded a Selector's Medal and an image of a Kestrel fighting with a Short-eared Owl over a rodent whilst in mid-air has been awarded a PAGB Ribbon at the 66th Southport National Open Exhibition 2013.
